Hi
I need to blast my butt asap. I am currently doing 1 hour walks daily and they always include hills.
Also do walking lunges on leg days (1 per week).
A suggestion was made that I should do walking lunges up hills. So:
Q1: Is that a good idea?
Q2: If so, how many days per week is good without overdoing it?
cheers

Andrea when you say "I need to blast my butt asap" what do you mean? Do you mean you want to drop bodyfat from that area?

Yes - overall I am pretty lean and I have a tendency to drop from my upper body if I do any high impact cardio such as running. So I stick to walking.
But I am holding too much bodyfat on my upper thighs, hips and butt. I understand this is a very common area for females but I am hoping to compete in 4 weeks so trying to blitz it without overdoing it.

Hi Andrea. Is this your first comp? Lunges, hitting the stairs and lots of hill walks. Also a massage once a week works for a lot of girls well.

I agree massage is great for contest prep!
Another thing is don't stress. If you stress about losing weight your body will hold onto it!!

Andrea, blitzing a bodypart to reduce bodyfat in that area will only lead to more frustration.
The way you are going to get rid of that stubborn fat is to increase your metabolic rate by-
1- increasing you muscle mass in the upper body. (which takes time)
2- changing your food intake around. If you have been following the same eating plan for awhile your body will be so used to it.
Why not post some pics?? Also you say you are going to compete in 4wks, what are you competeing in?

Thanks
I have been fiddling with my diet lately so don't think its that, but I do agree that time is the issue. I have just about decided to leave this comp and keep at it longer. My upper body definately needs more mass. I am only competing in Novice figure and one set of people suggest doing it anyway for experience.... but I'm not sure that I want to. I am thinking I'd be better waiting till I feel happier with condition.

If it was me I would do it for experience and learn from it and come in better shape next time.
And set some 6 or 12mths goals of putting on some upper body mass. I look at alot of figure competitors and they are so over dieted.
But I guess that's the look the judges are after I don't really know??

cheers....still undecided about the experience factor..knowing me I'll waver until the last minute!!!
But either way I will definately work on gaining more mass. I have always tended to look gaunt and puny across my chest and shoulders. It is improving and I know it will with time so one goal is to build this area up!!
Thanks again.
