Its been the latest diet and on everyones tongue at the moment so what is it? Anyone know someone who has tried it?
The South Beach Diet
The South Beach Diet is one of the latest fashionable eating plans. It basic premise is the focus it places on choosing the right types of foods, as opposed to extreme calorie restriction.
As a result, dieters are taught to lose weight, lower their cholesterol, reduce their risk of heart disease and diabetes, and eliminate cravings without feeling hungry.
The South Beach Diet has three phases:
The 14-day strict phase, where all junk is eliminated and a focus is placed on lean healthy foods. The liberal phase, where some of the foods banned from the first phase (such as bread, cereal and oatmeal) are reintroduced The weight maintenance phase where a healthy diet is continued indefinitely, or a least until the plan needs to be started again. For & Against The South Beach Diet
For
Potentially sets one up to manage their weight over the long-term. Includes a wide range of good quality foods. Appears to be scientifically based. Bad eating cycles could be broken.
Against
Much of the initial weight-loss is water. Much of the initial weight-loss is regained when carbohydrates are reintroduced. Doesn't cater to people who don't eat dairy products. A restriction on complex carbohydrates in the initial phase could result in lethargy.

have you ever seen the 48 hour hollywood diet. i used to see this thing, it looked like a bottle of Gatorade. basically all you did for 48hrs was drink the contents of this bottle, (32oz.) and then refill it with water and drink that, and that is all you got for two days.....like duh....if i starve myself for two days, i am gonna lose some weight....but gain it back as soon as i rediscover food......

I had a friend who followed this 3 day diet where for three days she was only allowed certain foods which were really restrictive and then for the other 4 days she could (and did) eat whatever she wanted. She stuck to it for months and couldn't understand why it wasn't working. But there was no telling her.
